Perfect stay June 23-27

Postby kdasher » Sun Jun 29, 2008 1:03 pm

As posted on TripAdvisor.com

We arrived at the HOJO at about 12:30pm. Knowing the hotel was full I wasn’t expecting our rooms to be ready, but too our surprise they were. We were in building 6 on the top floor ( 2nd floor ) with 2 queen adjoining rooms ( with my parents ). The rooms were larger than I expected and very bright and clean. Along the wall opposite of the beds was the T.V. , a desk and a long counter too sit our luggage, also closet space right near the door. There was room to eat breakfast at the desk and there was a table next to the beds also. We were pleased to have a safe in our room, which we used to store our passports and extra money. There was a small fridge which we also used which worked good, but my dad had problems keeping his at the right temp. I took a look at it and it was a different model than what we had. We never heard any noise from our room other than the odd sirens going by. Being on the top floor we had the high ceiling with the large windows at both ends that have no blinds. It made the room feel bigger and brighter and the light coming in the morning didn’t bother us at all, and was actually nice since we wanted to get up early everyday anyways. House cleaning did a great job each day, and were always done before we came back to the rooms for an afternoon swim. The pool was perfect for the kids with a max depth of 5 feet I believe. The pool was never busy at the times we used it except for one day which I counted about 20 people in it. The new Sprayground ( The old Main Pool ) was close to completion when we were there. It looks great and kids will love that area. It should be open sometime In July by the looks of it. We watched the fireworks from the hotel all but 1 night. If you have a room with no view they can be viewed from the parking lot or the new SprayGround area. The walk to Disneyland was easy and took 5-10 minutes depending how fast we went. The day we got there I went to the Grocery Store with my parents, while we were gone my youngest daughter locked the bathroom door after coming out and my wife couldn’t get back in. She called the front desk and they were up within minutes to open it. There always seemed to be a lot of staff on, even at night I always saw a few people at the desk when I was using the computer. All the staff were very friendly and were ready to help at anytime. We got dropped off by taxi with our groceries and someone came out to help us to our room. There are 2 computers in the lobby with internet that can be used free of charge, which was great as I used them to view and edit my photopass pictures. There is an arcade with lots of games to play and across from there is the Gift Shop with lots of snacks and cheap ( cheaper than Disney ) gifts to take home. There is also a free newspaper that I picked up every morning from the gift shop. The grounds were beautiful with lots trees, flowers and fountains. Mimi’s Restaurant had good food, prices and service. Go early or later as it does get busy at lunch time and dinner time.
Being one of the cheaper hotels on the main strip, I was very impressed and will stay there the next time we go.

Feel free to view my photos of the property
