Warmer pool temperature?

Postby Mr.Sticky » Mon Apr 28, 2008 1:07 pm

80 degrees is what the pool in my gym is heated to. That’s a bit chilly at first but after a few power laps you warm up and temperature seems pleasant for a pool workout.

However, when I’m with my young kids for basic “fun time” in the pool, a temperature a little warmer than that makes a huge difference. Kids, young ones in particular, loose body heat more quickly than most adults. A warmer pool greatly increases the amount of time we can all play together before we get too cold.

I know heating a pool to 82 or so would cost more, but it would make a huge difference to a lot of families. I for one would gladly pay a few bucks more for a warm pool “surcharge” if that was needed. Though I bet the word would get around and it would be great for business.

As you have two pools, maybe you could heat the more child themed pools a little more, and keep the other pool cooler for any gusts that wanted to do laps and such.

Just a thought! Can’t wait for my visit this Fall!

When I stayed at HOJO in December a couple of years ago, I remember the swiming pool was so warm I could see the steam coming out from the pool.
The official tempreture was still 80 but I felt it was more like 87 or 88.
I was assuming their official temprature was 80 but they were being flexible as needed.
Well, it was a couple of years ago (we usually stay in summer) so it's just my guess. ;)

Wow, 87 or 88 degrees would be a dream for my kids! We could even swim in the evenings!!! Talk about your magical memories! :D
I didn’t realize the temperature was so flexible. I just assumed the 80 degrees would be maintained year round. But I’d love to be wrong!

We just got home this weekend from our trip at the Hojo Anaheim, and the pool was freezing! My daughter wouldn't even go in it. And being that the kiddie pool is completely shut down for renovations, the garden pool was our only pool area. It had to be really warm for the pool to finally heat up, sort of, midday. A warmer pool would definently been a lot nicer than what we had to work with during our stay.

Yikes! This worries me, as pool time is very important to my younger kids.
Does anyone know if there was a problem with the pool temp that weekend? My kids also have a very hard time in cold pools. Should I just leave the swimsuits at home? :(

Hmm,
I remember main pool was always comfortable but also the garden pool was always on the chilly side.
Now the garden pool being new main pool, I am also concerned...
