HoJo Kids Suites:: What do YOU want?

Hey Everybody-

As some of you may have heard, we are in the process of converting 28 of our King Rooms in Building 1 [The Tower Building] into 14 Kids' Suites!

These Suites will be able to sleep a total of 6 people, maximum. In one of the rooms, there will be 1 King Bed, and in the other, a Bunk Bed [twin over twin] and a pull-out twin sleeper. There will be a bathroom in each room.

We are really excited about this project, but we've hit a bit of a creative block; so we thought -who better to turn to than you, our guests, for help?

1. What would you like to see in these rooms in terms of amenities [maybe a DVD player, a Wii, etc.] would you like to see in these Suites?

2. What kind of theming, if any, would you like to see? [Maybe a Pirates theme? Or some other Disney ride/attraction? ] Would you like very bright, fun colors in both of the rooms? Or would you prefer more neutral colors?

3. What are the ages of your children?


If there is any other information that you can think of that we might need to take into consideration, please let us know! We just want these Suites to be perfect for you!

I know that you guys are really creative, and I look forward to hearing all of your great ideas!

microwave and a mini fridge would be awesome. wii's or other gaming system. a pirate theme to go with the new pool area or disney if possible. bright colors for the kids and more neutral colors for the parents area. we already love the king suite as is but the extra beds and theming would be the best. we usually stay one night at disneyland and 4 to 5 with you but with the new suites we will stay all week with you.

Kids Suites are GREAT! Our last 2 Disney vacations we've stayed at hotels because of the Kids Suite option, so I'm really excited that you are adding this wonderful option for families! A fridge, coffee maker and microwave are probably must-have amenities. Also, I like the idea of the main room (or parents room) remaining neutral and relaxing and the kids room brighter and theme based. The pirate theme is a cute idea, but even just a Mickey Mouse themed room (or anything Disney) would be fun! My kids (ages 5 & 9) love watching movies and playing their Wii, so the DVD player and gaming system features would be a nice touch. Although, when you're on a Disneyland vacation there's not too much time for movie watching and game playing - - you could make those items extra at the front desk? I don't know, just a thought. Also, it would be nice to have a TV in each room, so the kids could watch 'their' shows and parents can watch something different if they want. And also, some kind of door to separate the areas and keep kids room quieter at night and nap times. Another thing that would be really nice is to have a table and 4 chairs in the main room, for eating meals, coloring or playing card games.
What is your timeline for finishing these Kids Suites? HoJo just keeps meeting the wants and needs of vacationing families...you really seem like you care about the people who come and stay with you...I'm really impressed with your character and vision!! Thanks for asking us what we want...pretty soon, you're going to be better than the Disneyland Hotels, if not already- Keep it up!

I have been lurking for a while. We are about to stay here oct. I think a kids suite would be grate. I am all for the pirate idea. It would go with the play area.
dvd player and wii sounds like it would be fun.
I would love if there were tvs in each room so my son would have his own.
My son is 6
microwave, fridge are almost a must now a days.

I'd love the kids' suite to have 2 tvs, a fridge, and a microwave. I'm happy to hear that 2 bathrooms are planned, too, this is great. As long as the Disney Channel and other kid-friendly channels are available, then we could do without the dvd player and Wii (these would be nice bonuses, but if not having these would mean a lower room rate then the lower cost is definitely more important to me).

My 3 kids are between the ages of 6 and 11. I don't have specific theme ideas for the rooms, but in general something fun in the kids' room and neutral in the parents' room would be great.

We're really looking forward to staying at your hotel later this year!

Oh we've got the Disney channel in all the rooms! :]

As for a completion date- well, that's probably a little ways off! We're still trying to come up with a design plan right now!

Hmmm... excellent idea to get comments from the community, Lorealle. My comments are definitely geared towards the younger age group. My kids are 3, 5 and unborn.

What I would like to see are:
- rounded edges and corners on furniture
- step stool in bathroom
- non-slip bathtub and bathroom flooring
- enough room in the layout to 1) walk comfortably, 2) fit a crib or whatever you have for infants
- beds that don't have gaps underneath (too easy to lose things)
- bed rails available (ones that are easy to use would be great!)
- attention to electrical outlets 1) not unnecessarily out in the open, 2) power strip in a friendly place for camera/phone/computer/game chargers
- night light that you can manually control (esp in the bathrooms)
- accommodations for eating, even something simple like a counter/bar with 2 seats against a wall
- phones up and out of the way of little fingers
- extra plastic bags or trash liners (I always try to flag down the room attendants to ask for some ahead of time for used diapers)

A DVD player or video game system would be nice touches but how much time would be spent actually using these amenties? Also, the Wii remote controllers would have to be secured to the room somehow or they might grow legs and walk away... if you know what I mean.

That's all I could think of that I personally would love to see attention paid to when taking my kids to a hotel. I don't care as much about theming but something dynamic, imaginative and colorful always works for me! I also think it'd be great to tie the parent's more subdued room theme to the kids room theme. Like a grown up Captain's quarters for parents and an epic pirate battle in the kids room.

my thoughts exactly I just couldn't think of the word. Something like that would keep me from going all the way to wdw just for there pirate room lol
I think i have found my hotel for all my future DL trips and my family's and extended family's ..lol

I think its grate how you ask our opinions it really means alot to me
