Just booked our Nov 2011 visit!

Postby jenvance » Thu Jan 13, 2011 12:51 pm

After our outstanding family visit last July, my family will be returning to Howard Johnson Anaheim this November, and bringing along another family with us.

We have just booked three rooms, and will be booking an additional two rooms for the week leading up to Thanksgiving. We're going to try out the Kid's Suite, my brother and his wife the Deluxe QQ, and my father is booked in a standard room. (the premium rooms in Bldg 1 near us are a little too pricey for him, and we're a little skeptical to put my old man in a highway facing king room, lol...) It will be my birthday that week, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

The gleaming reviews floating around on DL review sites, hotel review sites and Tripadvisor do not lie. This hotel is not just incredible value all around, but leaps and bounds ahead in customer service. Most negative reviews are about noise in Hwy facing rooms. I disregard those, because there are lots of affordable rooms to choose from at HoJo, and the same tips and resources are available to everyone with minimal digging around online. Simply request a room not facing the highway, and you will get one if it is available.

With two young children (ages 1 and 3), I plan on many, many future trips to Anaheim. It is highly unlikely I will even consider staying anywhere else, Entertainment rate or no Entertainment rate. I have spread the word to all of my family and friends, and any time anyone on Facebook says they're going to DisneyLand, I point them directly to HoJo. I am honoured to do so, as I want my loved ones to enjoy the same hassle-free, fun, safe, clean, easy experience that I enjoyed last summer. Seriously, the atmosphere at your establishment is rare at hotels nowadays, when one is normally flocked in and out like a bunch of mindless sheep.

You give back to your guests (ie. splash park, cheap rates, landscaping, "no problem" front desk, comfy beds, Keurig coffee, free parking, sparkling clean premises, and Lorealle the secret weapon, to name just a few), and they'll just keep a' comin' back. You're giving the other guys on S. Harbor a serious run for their money.

And Lorealle, I'm a lurker on all of the discussion boards. I don't say much, but you're always there, representing your hotel in an always friendly, professional manner. Where's the other guys? Yep, HoJo SCORES, that's why HoJo is climbing the charts. Secret's out, but it's really no secret, am I right? Why be like everyone else?

Many thanks to an exceptional team at HoJo, from top to bottom, and I seriously can't wait to stay with you once again. :D

Well, HoJo deserves every word of every positive review...

So, I have a question for an expert:

Our group now has 4 rooms booked. 2 kids suites, one Standard DD in bldg 3, and one Deluxe QQ in bldg 2. Obviously, we'd like our rooms to be in close proximity to one another.

I'm wondering if I should change the Deluxe QQ into a Premium QQ, and change the Standard DD into a Standard King. My concern is hwy noise for my father. Are there any rooms you can suggest in building 1 (instead of Standard DD in bldg 3) that wouldn't cost more than a Standard King, but are quieter than the rest?

Also, is it possible, should we change the room types, that we could get all four rooms really close to one another on a high floor in bldg 1?

In a nutshell

2 kids suites
1 inexpensive room for grandpa
1 Deluxe or premium room

all in building 1, close to each other, high floor. Connecting rooms okay. Possible?

thanks

Hi Jen!

:?: I was elfing around and saw your post about the rooms configuration for your group. Have you had a chance to speak with anyone in the in-house reservations department or anyone else on this?? If not, give me the high sign and I'll find the best arrangement for your group!

Thanks!

No, I haven't spoken to in-house reservations yet. I thought I'd see what info I could collect, and just make a quick, simple call. Any advice is always welcome!

I have booked 3 rooms at the Entertainment Rate: 1 kids suite, one Deluxe QQ, and one Standard DD. I would like my rooms to all be located in building 1, meaning a total of 1 kids suite, 1 Standard King, and 1 Premium QQ. Are these room types available all on the same floor (the higher, the better!)

At my recommendation, our friends have booked a kids suite for the same week (Nov 16 - 23). Can we request to include their room in our "group" and ask that our rooms be located in close proximity to their room?

Oh, back-and-forth is fun... I was sort of "appointed" to book stuff for our group, and I leave no stone unturned...

Planning is, like, half of the fun for me, and knowing where we are staying (and that we're staying at HoJo) makes my job a lot easier, for sure.

Discussion boards like this are such a great way to gain information. Still can't get over the personal service that your hotel provides, even thousands of km away. You guys know what you're doing, and that personal touch makes it all the better!

thanks for everything...
