Ent. Rate: No Cancelations/Modifications...

Postby jenvance » Tue Jan 25, 2011 8:02 pm

I noticed you have just changed the policy on Entertainment Rate bookings.

I completely agree that this sort of condition is justified for the Entertainment Rate, and I'm just wondering if this policy is "Henceforth", or if it applies to Entertainment Rate bookings that were made before today's date.

If it only applies to bookings AFTER today's date, I would include a note that states "bookings made on or after Jan 25, 2011"...something to that effect, just to avoid conflict and confusion

In addition, if the rooms are non-cancellable, does that mean payment in full is due at the time of booking?

Thanks

JV

Hi Jenvance!

The new policy is for bookings made on or after February 1, 2011. So all the bookings you have made are still on the 48 hour cancelation.

The new policy does not require you to pre-pay, but if you decide to cancel the penalty is one night's room and tax.

This new policy just rolled out and we are in the midst of an online discussion with our fans/readers to look at some other options (e.g. implementing a change fee so people can move the reservation to a different date, etc.). Stand by on that.

Thanks for the great question as I'm sure others are wondering the same thing if they heard about the new policy.

Could I gently suggest that this policy is punishing offenders and innocents alike? I'm sure you've got some serious abuse to make this policy. Does the answer require a uniform policy? Could you find a way to enforce this for your "hoarders" without impacting your good guests too?

I'd love to book our *regular* November trip now, but this gives me pause. The other couple we travel with is unable to commit at this time, so we are stuck either way.

Food for thought?

Hi FolsomEJ!

Thanks for your comments! We are having a wonderful discussion about this topic online and gaining very valuable feedback from the online community. There is a firm and serious business reason that a new policy had to go into effect but we are now looking at options brought up by our fans/guests online. A few suggestions we are looking into are nominal change fees, and perhaps allowing for no penalties on small alterations to an existing reservation (e.g. adding a night on the front, removing a night at the end). Many ideas have come in and the team is examining them and looking at how they might be managed effectively.

We'll keep you updated and thank you again for taking the time to let us know your thoughts! :)

Thanks for considering customer feedback, as always!

In my opinion, even if I hadn't booked our November dates yet, I would still 100% support the decision. I have stayed at other hotels in the past, and used a non-refundable rate. Their rate, although a bit lower than their regular rate, did not TOUCH your entertainment rate.

With all that HoJo gives back to guests, this policy should come as no surprise, and be accepted as an inevitability for amazing rates. This policy helps all involved, both HoJo and customers alike.

I will continue to book HoJo as my one and only Disneyland option, and continue watching for the same great rates, despite a tighter policy. I have recommended HoJo to many friends and family, as I stand by the product every bit as much as you do.

My kids are now only 1 and 3. Lots of future business for you from THIS chick

Loyal guests will be coming out of the woodwork, and non-loyal guests will look elsewhere, leaving more room for NEW loyal guests. Am I right?

Hi Crazy4DL! We hope you don't need to cancel! We want you with us. :D But, it is true with these REALLY low rates that we had to have more firm cancelation rules to keep a level playing field. The cancellation fee is just for ONE night's room and tax, not for the entire stay. So if you had a four night stay, for example, the charge would just be for one night's room and tax.

All the best and enjoy your time with the Mouse! The weather has been amazing and we hope it holds out for you. ;)

Thank you, HoJo Elf (perfect name, btw :D ) . . .absolutely no problem. I can certainly understand your policy.

I kept rereading trying to make sure it was just a one night charge. Seemed that was correct but figured I would set my mind to ease - just in case. ;)

Never fear . . . you are the only place we end up staying anymore! :D :D :D

Great rates and great service.
