Breakfast / Lunch Buffet restaurants

Postby beseeinyou » Mon Jun 15, 2009 9:32 am

This will be our first visit to the area coming from Scotland, we have been in Orlando quite a few times and have been in diners called Ponderosa & Sizzler where they have an all you can eat style breakfast & lunch which we enjoy every few days, is there anything like that close to the hotel and furthermore any that are recommended?

Hi beseeinyou!
There is a restaurant called Captain Kidd's on Harbor, directly across from the crosswalk entrance to Disneyland, that has an all you can eat style buffet - however - I would not recommend it. We tried to eat there last summer, and the buffet looked a total mess, like it was just not attended to or kept fresh and the service was very poor. We got up and walked out and went to another restaurant. That was our experience, I don't know if that is the norm - - maybe someone else had a different experience? We will not attempt to eat there again. :o
Goofy's Kitchen, at the Disneyland Hotel, has a wonderful buffet ... you will pay for the experience, but the food was good and it was very fun for the kids (grown up kids included!) It is also recommended that you make reservations ahead of time to guarantee a spot.

Hometown Buffet
1630 W Katella Ave Anaheim, CA 92802

Get Directions

But I think you might need a car. Maybe someone knows if the city bus or ART runs by it.

Another NO recomendation in regards to Captain Kidd's, I have heard way too many horror stories.

The Shakey's Pizza restaurant, which is just north of HoJo's up Harbor Blvd has a Lunch Buffet that is nice.

There is a Chinese Buffet I like that has a large variety, including cooked to order items.

Thanks for those replies guys, have read a number of reviews now for Captain Kidds and they ain't good for sure, don't see me risking that.

Goofy's place will be worth it for the pleasure my daughter will get out of it, we've been in a couple of these things at the Disneyland in Paris, as you say it's expensive but she absolutely loves it.

We'll have a hired car and we shall look up Hometown Buffet and Shakey's Pizza and the Chinese buffet, good to hear personal recommendations.

Once again thanks and any other dining suggestions in the area appreciated.

Even though Mimi's which is right across the street from Hojo's, is not a buffet restaurant, the meals there are amazing!! and the portions absolutely enormous! free refills on soda's or ice tea etc. breads and banana bread basket, with the meal...you will always have leftovers if you choose not to share the meal, which I always do with my daughter :D If you sign up for Mimi's email club a week before you go, you'll get a coupon to print out at home for a free breakfast entree. You really should not miss eating there at least once! :)
