Hi all,

My family (Hubby, myself and 3 children 9,6 & 3) are coming to the HoJo in August 2009! It seems so far away but I just know it'll be here soooooo soon. We will be coming from Australia

I have been reading through the forums and they are extremely helpful. I can't wait to actually be there

We are only staying for 4 nights before heading to Philidelphia, the kids are already excited about Disneyland and are telling all of their school firends.

I will be in this forum alot between now and August, I have lots of questions and this is where I can find the answers to all of them, thankyou.

Hey Kel,

Fellow Aussie here and we're planning a Christmas 2009 USA trip. First we'll stop in Orlando for WDW then with friends in Ohio over Christmas/New Year and then a stopover in LA and Hojo in January 2010 on our way home.

Everyone thinks I'm mad planning so early but ....

How are you coping with the Aussie dollar being so low? Has that made your trip expensive?

I'm hoping to hang out and wait til it improves a little before booking hotels and tickets etc.

Hi Gidget,

We were actually lucky enough to win a Flightcentre voucher through a Newspaper competiton so our lovely holiday isn't costing us anything!

Watching the dollar is very frustrating at the moment but we have plenty of time for it to come good again so my fingers are crossed

Our travel plans are:

Bisbane to Fiji - 2 nights
Fiji to La transfer to Anaheim - 4 nights plus 3 days Disney pass
La to Philadelphia (where my Mum lives) for a week
PA - LA - Fiji for another 2 nights
Fiji back to Brisbane

That comes to a total of $19,471AUD!!!! That is all flights, accomodation, tickets, transfers and insurance for the 5 of us. We were going to stay in NY for a few nights but that was going to cost an extra $3000 and the voucher was for $20,000 so we decided to forget staying in NY and just train it in from PA. Ofcourse we are going during the USA Summer so it's peak holiday season and more expensive than during off peak.

We only just got to book it Friday becasue the travel agent was waiting on 2009 prices being loaded into the system. You might want to try just getting a quote at the moment, I don't think that cost anything

Hey Kel,

At the moment we can't even get quotes - airfares and hotel pricings aren't loaded that far in advance. All I can do is watch the current pricing and wait for airfare sales - we'll start booking after January next year.

Yes hopefully by next year the Aus$ will have improved somewhat!

Are you flying Qantas or another airline? We're hoping to get a flight on their new A380 plane direct Melbourne to LA.

Hi again,

We are flying with Air Pacific. They fly from Aus - Fiji - LA and were our cheapest option. I have been on the net looking them up and they seem pretty good.

We wanted to break the trip up a little for the kids (and our sanity, lol)

It took from July '08 until now to get prices for August next year so hopefully your prices will be loaded soon. I was going to say it will probably be cheaper than ours as you are travelling in the colder months but being Christmas/New Year it may be classed as peak, I don't know.

My Sister was in New York and PA in March this year and they said it was relativley cheap compared to what we were quoted for Summer time.

The prize was a complete shock! It was through a second chance draw so we were really lucky to have our name drawn out.

Well 2009 is here and I am really excited to say that our holiday is THIS year and not next

Passports and visa waivers are being done later this month (thought we'd wait until after the holiday season ) and the dollar is even fairing better so I am really excited

Same here Kel ... and I've been watching the AUS $ as well. I'd like it to move up another 5 cents and then I'll be truly happy!

We're also doing passports this month but I need to wait another month or so to start booking airfares and hotels.
