How exciting for you. The booking is so much fun because when it's final you have an itinerary not just a thought
Isn't it funny, I have never really taken much interest in the US dollar before, just happened to see it on the news but now, I look it up online, my heart stops if it goes down and races when it goes up!
I have been practising passport photos with Miss 3. The lady at the Post Office explained that they don't do it digital so if she smiles or looks away etc.......we'll have to pay again and again. Although Rabbit Photo do passport photos and they use a digital camera and are only $3 more than the PO, they might be my best bet.
Yeah we would love the dollar to come up a bit more! Does anyone have any idea how much food cost in the parks for a family per day? Trying to budget without really knowing is a little hard? I have heard that mimis is good across the road? You are so lucky Kel to of won that holiday. It is costing us alot to come from Australia. Wow what a win!!!!! I know what you mean when you say you can't wait, we have the count down on as well. My nine year old has made a little calender with post-it notes that she has numbered and pulls one of each day, 56 days to go now!!!!! Really looking forward to staying at the HoJo, looks like a nice family hotel. We just can't wait as well
Thanks for those links kel ! It gives us some idea of what there is to eat as well as the cost. I feel like such a big kid, it has always been a dream of ours as well to go to disneyland. So we just can't believe we really are going, I don't think I will until we are there.
That link takes you to the overview of the hotel and at the bottom of the page they have local area restaurants. I have looked them all up online and it's funny because "Denny's" is talked about alot in books we read (horror novels by Richard Laymon) so we are definately eating there at some stage
I also feel like a kid. I have always wanted to go to Disneyland Hubby and I are saying we are doing it for the kids but really it's all for us too I really can't wait to be standing there at the front entrance - taking all my touristy photos
So, there is a website called 'Yelp' that is all about reviews of businesses by locals, and I did a search for our zip code and 'Disneyland Restaurants' and got a bunch of great results! Here's a link for you:: http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=di ... s=1&rpp=10 Hopefully that will help a little bit, too! :]
I am very intrigued about these horror novels that feature Denny's! Is it used as a meeting place? Do the crimes happen there? I'm going to have to look these up!!!
As for the Richard Laymon novels The crimes don't actually take place inside Denny's but it seems almost every story involves someone driving somewhere and a Denny's is usually mentioned (either by driving past or actually eating there). We wish we had more time in LA becasue we'd love to drive the streets that we've read so much about
We're going over Christmas 09 as well, staying at Hojo Jan 3-6. As somebody noted, it's an expensive time to fly, but Christmas is so magical. We're spending it with my parents in Indiana, so the grandparents can have Christmas with the kids & hopefully the kids can experience snow. Then onwards to the fun in the sun? in San Diego & Disney!
As they say, it's a small world, and like Gidget & Kel, we have links to Philly & Ohio. We were going to go to Philly to visit friends, but couldn't afford the extra us$1500 for 4 tix. So instead, we're meeting our friends in Cleveland. Never been there, so hopefully it's nice in the winter
Anyway, we're so looking forward to our trip. We haven't told our kids yet, as it's hard enough for me to stay focussed. I couldn't deal with questions from a 5 yo for the next 8 months
Enjoy your trip Kel, I think you're heading over shortly. You'll have to let us know how it goes!
Our trip is for August and don't worry I will be so touristy! I will have photos and ofcourse be leaving a "trip report"
We told our kids (8, 5 and 3 at the moment) and surprisingly they haven't been hounding us too much. We have shown them the HoJo photos and they seem more excited about the Castaway Cove than Disney We recently went to White Water World near Dreamworld and they have a similar area where the bucket fills and spills - they loved it
When Master 5 turns 6 they know that's when to get excited - his Birthday is at the end of July
These boards have been really great, I have asked all sorts of questions from room upgrades to tipping and the responses have been so very very helpful
I hope everyone travelling to HoJo travels safe and has a great time
Thanks for those links Lorealle . It is great to see so many Aussies going over. Has anyone been on the A380 with qantas. We are going on this on the way over. We are sooooo excited !!! Just hope the little fella(22mths) is o.k for the long long flight!
