Mid-November event?

It seems like there's always something fun going on in the Anaheim Resort, and occasionally we're able to get in on the fun! Come on in and see what we're getting up to- maybe you'll be able to join us!

Mid-November event?

Postby jenvance » Sun Jan 23, 2011 1:16 pm

My family is booked at HoJo this November. I just called to make changes to a couple of our rooms, and I was informed that room changes are impossible, as the hotel is 100% full for the weekend of Nov 18!

Is there a big event going on that weekend? I can't seem to find any info or evidence of a Star Trek convention or something, lol.

Thanks!

Well, November is a busy time in general in the Disneyland area. The weekend of November 11th is Veterans Day in the USA, a major holiday weekend (Disneyland has reached capacity many times and had to stop selling tickets in the past). And then the period between Friday, November 18th through the 27th is another major Holiday period with Thanksgiving being celebrated in the US on Thursday, November 24th. Many Schools are now giving a full week off of the holiday (similar to Spring Break, so maybe call this Fall Break), so that is more than likely why the Hotel is booked solid. Disneyland does offer maximum hours and entertainment during this period due to the large crowds.

Hope that helps.

Thanks!

I booked the week of Nov 16 - 23, hoping us Canadians would miraculously skip the Thanksgiving frenzy. I guess I was wrong, but it's good to know that Disney accommodates the crowds by beefing up the entertainment!

Lol, I emailed HoJo reservations, and they said there's lots of availability at that time, and of course they responded promptly, and were very helpful in moving my rooms around. I wonder if the in-house reservations staff member I spoke to on the phone was new...

Thanks for your help!

Hi Jenvance!

Thanks Darkbeer! You nailed it, a very busy time in the area.

Regarding the reservations change, I think I know what happened. If you call in to our in-house reservations team in Anaheim, and they are all on the phones or the office is closed, you will be automatically re-directed to Central Reservations for the Howard Johnson brand. There are two separate systems that interface with each other and show the agents on both sides which rooms are open for sale. Our system in Anaheim is the correct one. When the hotel becomes close to full capacity, sometimes the systems don't balance exactly and there is a room or two open that Central Reservations cannot see. I am guessing that is what occurred. We are working on getting that issue fixed but when in doubt, make sure you are speaking to someone physically in Anaheim OR send us an email to stay@hojoanaheim.com and they can assist you via email.

So sorry to make you sweat a bit, but we are super happy you were able to adjust your reservations. We look forward to seeing you in November!! :D

Oh, that makes SO MUCH sense to me now! lol, the woman I spoke to seemed to know nothing about the hotel layout, or what I was talking about. I was just calling to change a couple of room types, and she didn't really know the difference or location of the rooms. I found that so unusual, since the in house staff are normally so kind and knowledgeable.

Maybe I'll luck out and not get such humungous crowds. Then again, it'll be fun no matter what! Celebrating a couple of birthdays while we're there. How can Disneyland suck on one's birthday?
