Using ART???

Can we use ART to get to shops like Walmart and Target? I downloaded their map but I am struggling Thanks

ART does not service Wal-Mart, and to get to a Target, you have to transfer at the Disneyland Tram area.

I prefer using the public bus, OCTA Route 43 goes up and down Harbor about every 15 minutes.

I prefer the Target at Orangethorpe, which is north up Harbor, as it has a lot more to shop at...

OCTA is $1.25 each way, or you can get a $3 day pass.

As for Wal-Mart, the easiest option is to catch the LA Metro Route 460, which has a stop at the corner of Manchester and Harbor, right at the corner of HoJo's (the bus sign is on the Traffic Light post).

Take that to Buena Park Downtown on La Palma Ave, about a 20 minute trip. The Wal-Mart is on the South side of La Palma, but there are plenty of other stores here, including Sears and Kohl's. It is very close to Knott's Berry Farm.

That is $1.25 each way (the day pass is $5, so I wouldn't opt for it)

Avoid ART!!! For Disneyland or anywhere else!!! They claim that their shuttles run every 20 minutes, but the ART drivers will proudly tell you that it takes at least 30-40 minutes to complete the route, and that there is only one shuttle on each route. (Apparently that is the reason there is no printed timetables - unlike OCTA or normal hotel shuttles.)

To give HoJo's some credit, when we bought our ART passes in the HoJo lobby, the nice fellow selling them to us strongly suggested that we would prefer walking instead. I should have picked up on his veiled hints. If I had known how much of our precious vacation time we would spend waiting for the shuttle, I would have just driven and paid for parking.

That said, I've never had a problem with ART - the longest wait seemed to be trying to catch ART at Disneyland to get back to the hotels. But I've always made sure to catch one of the very early ones so i could be sure to be one of the first in line at the gates.

I agree that the walk is not bad, as long as you are healthy. For anyone who has mobility issues (including myself last spring due to a severe knee injury), they might prefer not to walk. If they have a car and a healthy driver, there is a passenger drop-off area very close to where the parking trams disembark. Then the car could return to HoJo's - which offers free parking - and the healthy driver could probably walk to the Disneyland gates as quickly as the mobility-impaired person could make their way from the drop-off area to the gates.

For myself, since I tend to go back and forth to the hotel, putting parking on my Disneyland AP was the best choice to avoid ART's irregular schedule (I understand from postings on other message boards that you can wait 1 1/2 hours if you are unlucky enough to miss the shuttle immediately before the operator takes her lunch break) and unreasonable waiting times. It takes about 20 minutes to take a shuttle - which run about every 5 minutes - from the Disneyland gate to the parking lot then drive to HoJo's.

To clarify my last post, the 20 minutes is the total travel time including walking from the Disneyland gates to the parking shuttle loading area, loading onto the shuttle, riding to the parking lot, getting in your car and driving to Hojo. Not 20 minutes of riding the shuttle LOL.

I'd avoid using ART, there were a couple of times we caught it in the morning to the park which was nice as the HoJo is the last stop before the park so you're there in a couple of minutes. However the ride back to the HoJo is almost 20 minutes as you make two other stops so unless you want to veg out for a while instead of walking back.

For the most part it was more of a hassle than anything. The wait is usually longer than the walk to the park or back and if you time it at lunch or shift change you're really in for a hassle. One driver managed to forget the stop at the HoJo so she could make sure to be off shift right at 4 so we ended up spending 30+ minutes it seemed like on the shuttle.

Yes. It is easy to drive from HoJo to the drop off. Go out of the HoJo driveway, turn left onto Harbor, go past the turn-in for the shuttles, then the entrance to the drop-off area is about 100 feet further.

Can someone tell me where, exactly, ART stops at HoJo's? I have never had any problems using them and we ride them every time we come to Anaheim but this will be my first time at HoJo's so I was wondering where it stops. Thanks.
