Some taxi questions

Postby kerplookie » Tue Apr 28, 2009 12:07 am

Hey, we're going to be staying at HoJo for 7 days in a few weeks. I'm looking at heading up to Los Angeles for a day, and wanted to get there as early as possible, to have more time for touristy fun ;).
I'm hoping to be able to get to Fullerton Station in time for the 7:55am Metrolink train, but I have a few questions:
What time would I have to leave the hotel in order to get to Fullerton in time to get my ticket etc?
How busy is it likely to be at this time in the morning (rush hour?)
Will there be taxis around the hotel, or will I have to book one the night before?

Thanks in advance for your help! :D

Hello kerplookie!

You ask a lot of really great questions- and I will do my best to answer them for you! [I have to admit that I don't know- but I think I have a few ideas for how you can find out!] :D

First of all, I cannot say enough good things about the Metrolink trains. They are reliable, fast and such a cost effective and stress-free way to get from Orange County to LA.

Now, I like to be at the train station, ticket in hand, at least 15 minutes prior to the train's scheduled departure time- that just results from a deeply ingrained 'Better Safe Than Sorry' inner-monologue on endless repeat, I think! ;] Also, I'm not sure if you knew this- but there is an Anaheim Metrolink Station about a 10 minute [maximum!] taxi ride from the hotel- and that will get you to LA from there as well!

Speaking of taxis- our Front Desk can call one for you at any time- day or night! Just give a call down to the Front Desk and let them know what time you'll need the taxi there and they can arrange it for you. :]

I hope this helps!

I also recommend about 15 minutes prior to the departure.

The Fullerton station is about 4 miles north of HoJo's up Harbor Blvd. If headed to Union Station/LA, I would use it instead of Anaheim. The fare will be a bit less for a shorter trip, and it is the same basic distance as the Anaheim Station from Hojo's. IMHO, taxi fare would be about the same price as well.

Metrolink tickets are sold from Vending machines on the platform. Just follow the easy steps, Cash, Credit and Debit cards are accepted. Round Trip tickets are sold at a discount. One great benefit, the Metrolink ticket is also a pass on LA Metro and OCTA buses, and the LA subway system. (A one day pass on Metro is usually $5).

One more option, you could walk down Harbor from HoJo's to the Disneyland Pedestrian crossing near the Captain Kidd's Restaurant (and take this advice, DON'T eat there) and catch the OCTA Route 43 bus to the Fullerton station (Stay on the same side as Captain Kidd's, going NORTH). Bus trip would take about 30 minutes each way, and you would have to pay $1.50 for the trip up, as you would not yet have your Metrolink ticket. So I think you would want to be at the bus stop by 7 AM. Here is a link to the OCTA site, who will give you your best choice, depending on the date of travel. Use Just Click and ask for an arrival at the Fullerton Train station by 7:40 AM (using Disneyland as the departure site).

Enjoy your trip.
