Local Stores

Postby Cloei_13 » Sat Mar 01, 2008 10:04 pm

Hi,

We will be in Anaheim in May and will have a rental car for a few days... we are looking for a good nearby grocery store and a Walmart/Target type of store... any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Cloei_13!

Welcome to the Boards! :]

There is a Vons grocery store about a mile away from our hotel, and there is a Target about two miles away from us! So, you definitely have options!

Hope this helps!

OK, The Anaheim Plaza Shopping Center has a Wal-Mart and is easy to get to with a rental car.

Basically leave the HoJo parking lot, and make a right (north) onto Harbor. Stay in the right lane and get onto the 5 North freeway. Just a couple of miles up the freeway, get off at Lincoln Blvd. (You should see the Anaheim Plaza sign on the right side). The main tenant is the Wal-Mart, but there are plenty of other tenants in the center.

Another close Wal-Mart is part of the Buena Park Mall on La Palma Ave, just east of the Knott's Resort. There are a LOT of shops here, other major stores included a Sears and a Kohl's. An Albertson's Grocery Store is right across the street, along with a Rite Aid Drug Store.

As for Target, there are 2 close ones, the one I prefer is the one about 3 miles north of Hojo's, at the corner of Harbor and Orangethorpe. There are a lot of choices at this corner, including a Disney Outlet Store.

Grocery Stores, if you look at the distance, the closest Supermarket is a Food4Less, about 1 mile west of the DLR on Katella, at the corner of Euclid. A K Mart is also at this corner. I like John's Philly Grill for a bite to eat, or there is a Hometown Buffet if you are looking for a major chain.

We bought our prepackaged stuff at the Target and then craved fresh food. Down South Harbour going towards the Disney outlet store, actually directly across south Harbor from the plaza where the Disney outlet store is, is a Franks Farm Market that sold amazing produce ( I can't believe how affordable organic produce is there) and also some prepacked foods, and deli foods, incl. health foods and foods for special diets ie: gluten free etc.

We really enjoyed picking up stuff at this store.

Thanks so much for the information everyone! ;) I'm going to have to write this down...while we don't have a rental car, my husband and I talked about getting a cab to go shopping for our fresh fruit and veggies after arriving. We're not used to eating out so much and are big on having fresh fruit and veggies everyday so buying some is at the top of our list. Good to know the store isn't too far and that it's a great store. (We're also "dying" to see what Target is about, lol. Being from Canada, we've never been to one and some of my friends who live in the US rave about it!)

For your fresh produce, I would definately recommend the Franks Farm Market. Strawberries (the packages of them) and whole pineapples were .79 each! We are in Canada too and to find fresh, organic produce at this time of year at those prices made me very happy!!! Oranges were .59 lb and apples about the same. Definately recommend it for all your fresh food needs.

Here is a link to the actual location. It is in Fullerton which is just down the road but you must cross city boundaries:
