Very Late Check In

Postby AussieTraveller » Sat Feb 18, 2012 5:14 am

As we travel a really long way to come to the USA and the flights seem to arrive early in the morning. Getting to the hotel say around 7.30 - 8am can make for a very long day when check in is not until 4 pm, after flying all night and with the time difference, 8am actually being the middle of the night for our body clock.

Because of this we always book our hotel room for the day before (and pay for that night), but instead of checking in at 4pm, we check in the next morning. Therefore our room is ready and we can go straight to it, rather than having to wait until 4pm. We always note in our booking that we are checking in the next morning, so that the hotel doesn't think we are not showing up.

We also book (and pay for) our check out day as the day after we leave if our flight is really late at night, so we can stay in the room until it's time to go to the airport at night.

So say we are arriving early morning on the 6th, we book the 5th as our arrival day, pay for the 5th night, but actually check in on the morning of the 6th.

Are we able to do this at HoJo?

I recently read of somebody where a hotel (not HoJo) cancelled their booking as they hadn't arrived by midnight  . We have never had this happen and we have done it so many times, in various hotels in the USA and also in several countries in Europe and the UK due to early flight arrivals. It got me worried and before booking I thought I would check HoJo's policy of prebooking and paying for the hotel room the day before to ensure early check in.

Thanks :)

Sorry for delay in response AussieTraveller! It just so happens this HoJo Elf is in Australia at the moment...making sure the Aussies know where they should be staying in Anaheim! :D

No worries, people do this all the time and we're quite used to it. Send your surname and dates to our reservations team at resv@hojoanaheim.com along with your room needs. They will make the appropriate notes on your file. The hotel term is a "no show" when we are holding a reservation and no one arrives. This is when they would cancel the reservation. As long as we see the note that the reservation is just holding the place for the early AM arrival, then they will have your room waiting when you arrive early the next morning. We run so full that it is required to book the night before in order to get the early AM arrival time since most nights 100% of the rooms are occupied.

Let us know if you have any questions, or if you need assistance getting that bit sorted. :)
