Soft Openings

Does anyone know how we can find out if there are soft openings going on for new attractions? We will be in Disneyland during mid-late April 2011 and are hoping there could be soft openings for The Little Mermaid and/or Star Tours - but how will we know? Will being Anuual Passholders help?

Generally, Disney "soft openings" are not pre-announced. Your best bet is to keep an eye on the following discussion boards (some of our favorites):

Here's an excerpt from the last MiceAge update by Al Lutz:

If all goes well, they’d like to be doing soft openings for Mermaid by April, 2011, and then debut it at a big media event in May hyping Mermaid, Star Tours 2.0, Disneyland’s new Soundsational parade (that opens later this winter), and the revamped Paradise Pier section of DCA. 2011 will be a very exciting year for Anaheim, with the debut of several big new attractions and a new parade, and a growing fan frenzy as the towering tailfins of Cars Land take shape over the construction walls.

You have a decent chance of the Little Mermaid attraction, but the new version of Star Tours is currently listed "back stage" for opening May 20th, which would more than likely not make your trip.

Of course, delays happen often in construction, such as the new World of Color Water show at DCA, they hoped for a March opening, and got lucky with a mid-June opening with NO Soft Openings.
