Hey Momy 9805

We are neighbours. We are in White Rock. It feels downright chilly here compared to how hot it was down there last weekend!!! I hope you have a fabulous time. We flew out of Seattle and not Vancouver.

Hey there! So we are neighbors, how funny!...I actually live in Burnaby (however more people know Vancouver better than Burnaby so for simplicity I say Vancouver  ). Yes, this past weekend was nice...the one before however was not. Did you get snow out your way? We did, it was bizarre, tulips and cherry trees with snow around/on them. And your right, it's really cold here still isn't it? Frost is still on the deck in the mornings. blah. We're flying out of Vancouver in 19 days! Can't wait!

Yes, I heard Nanaimo got dumped on a few weeks ago. It is so funny cause when people hear you are from Canada they think we all have sled dogs and igloos, however, we freak out if we get more than about 7 days of snow a year and if we aren't wearing shorts by April!!!! :P

LOL! So true! And today where I live it's 12C/53F and as usual is pouring rain. So here we are in the middle of May and still need jackets because it's still cold. I SO can not wait to go somewhere warm and see sunshine for more than 2 days in a row!!

Another option I like to use (I also won’t have a car) is supermarkets that deliver. I believe Vons (Safeway) is quite close and they deliver to the hotel. There are undoubtedly other major chains that deliver as well. http://shop.safeway.com

We did this for our last trip and were very happy. I was initially worried about ordering fresh produce that I hadn’t personally picked out, but every item was fresh and in excellent shape. (And my wife is picky about her organic produce!)

The prices are the same as in the store, and they offer free delivery for first time users.
You can order when you get to the hotel, or you can order from home and have them deliver on the day you arrive or whenever you want. You don’t have to be there, and the HOJO will put items in their front desk refrigerator that need it.

I’m sure a dedicated produce market would have a bigger selection, but it’s hard to beat for sear convenience. (Especially if you don’t have a car!)

After you click on the link, select the “Online Shopping” tab on the top left of the page. Then enter the zip code for HOJO there. You don’t need to pick a specific store, as I believe it comes from a large distribution warehouse chosen based on the delivery zip code you specify.

At this point you can choose to register fully, or just browse as a “guest”. (As a “guest”, you can see everything and even fill up your virtual shopping cart, but they will make you register fully if you want to actually place your order.)

You can then order whatever you want, and even add specific instructions for the people picking out your items. (Green vs. ripe bananas for instance, as well as an option to substitute or not substitute if they are out of a particular item or product size) Pick your delivery window, and you are good to go!

One bit of warning, the refrigerators in the hotel are small, and have very little freezer space. Many freezer items (like frozen burritos) can be put in the refrigerator instead. But some items aren’t so flexible so you have to be more creative. For instance: We LOVE ice cream, but a half gallon tub would never fit. So we bought some ice cream sandwiches instead, which fit in the freezer once we took them out of the box and stacked them like bricks. 8-)

Oh yeah, you also might want to check out Albertsons online too. They usualy have a free delivery coupon (though I can't find one for them now!) and have a little different selection and prices.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, but it's nice to have options...
